 Technology is the application of human knowledge, most often in the form of tools and machines, to meet common needs and desires. Technology can be defined as the collection of techniques, skills, methods and processes used in the production or accomplishment of goods or services or in the accomplishment of tasks, including technological artifacts.

Technology is a product of human creativity. It is a force that shapes progress and drives the development of society. It is used to improve productivity through tools, systems and services. Technology has been central to human civilization's most notable advances over the last few thousand years. Examples include agriculture (wheat and wine), metallurgy (steel) and manufacturing (automobiles) which have profoundly affected culture since their earliest appearances in history.

The term "technology" encompasses all forms from architecture to zoology, engineering to medicine, science to social interaction, business to entertainment – not just manufactured objects but also ideas about how things work or how they might be made better.
